•Is a marriage ceremony performed by a notary public of the State of Florida "legal and binding"? Is a Florida notary public authorized to perform a marriage ceremony outside the state, or may a notary from another state perform a marriage ceremony in Florida?
••Florida is one of only three states (the other two are South Carolina and Maine) who authorize their notaries public to "solemnize the rites of matrimony." §117.045, Florida Statutes. The Florida notary may perform a marriage ceremony providing the couple first obtain a marriage license from an authorized Florida official and may only perform such ceremony within the geographical boundaries of Florida.
We can lock in your appointment with our marriage celebrant as soon as you set the date, even before you get the marriage license, up to 30 days in advance. When we talk we’ll discuss the ceremony, your thoughts on wedding readings and vows, and any special needs or concerns that you have.
After the wedding, your marriage celebrant will complete the information required on the Florida marriage license and return it to the Clerk of the Court. The Clerk’s office will mail a certified copy of the license to you in a few weeks.
If you are already married and want to renew you your vows, we’re ready to help.
The only difference from the information above is you don’t need a marriage license.
Feel free to call or email MyFLNotary.com with any questions you have concerning using us as your Marriage Celebrant. As a mobile notary public, we come to your event.
